Stadia Connect Event Updates: The Platform Is to Enlarge Its Game Library This Year, But That’s It
The Google Stadia Connect broadcast that took place on July 14 did not shed much light on what the company’s strategy for expanding and promoting its gaming ecosystem was.
Except for announcing the arrival of a few new games and timed exclusives like Hitman 3, Orcs Must Die! 3, and Outriders, the platform reps did not go into detail about whether any of the promised features, particularly state share and crowd play, were finally coming to life. These are currently available for a limited number of games and, while their potential is undeniable, the implementation still feels clunky.
Also, we did not hear anything about Stadia’s plans to review its current pricing model to make buying and investing in the platform more attractive. Of what we can be sure is that this year we will get to try Super Bomberman R Online – a sequel to the 2017 game reinforced with a brand-new battle royale mode, as well as a fantastical multiplayer shooter Outcasters. Like many games mentioned at the presentation, Super Bomberman and Outcasters are only timed exclusives and should be available on other platforms in a while.
