Portal 2 Review: Amazing Sequel of a Famous Game

Portal 2 is a first-person puzzle game. It's a sequel to Portal, developed by Valve Corporation. The official release date was announced by Valve on March 5, 2010.

Graphics 5/5

In the first minutes after you start the game, Portal 2 does not cause wild enthusiasm as it is extremely reminiscent of the original one. The sequel was based on the same Source graphics engine, which was given a cosmetic repair. Now we have increased detail, clear textures, and more realistic surfaces.

The game looks fantastic, and it runs fast, even on outdated configurations. On consoles, the situation is similar, and only the owners of the PlayStation 3 can slightly reproach Valve since these users were previously promised the full support of the online Steam service. However, there are a lot of interesting things to learn in this Portal 2 review.

Gameplay 5/5

The story of Portal 2 begins many years after the original episode. The well-known red-haired girl named Chell wakes up in a room and has to figure out how to escape it. As it turns out, the premises are located in the same Aperture Labs research center, from which you struggled to get out several years ago.

The underground complex begins to collapse immediately, but a new satellite chatty robot named Wheatley helps us keep calm.

Unfortunately, Chell does not manage to communicate with him enough. Having brought the GLaDOS supercomputer back to life, the girl is again forced to go through tests, look for ways out of the experimental rooms and listen to caustic comments performed by GLaDOS. For the newcomers, let us explain: the supercomputer has something to be angry about. In the first game, thanks to GLaDOS's elimination, the girl got out of the ill-fated complex.

Controls 5/5

While Valve has provided various gestures and helper functions for the Atlas and P-body, there is nothing to do without voice communication in co-op. However, gradually, you get acquainted with the new game elements, which ease the gameplay and help to master controls.

Replay Value 3/5

Portal 2 is a one-time game. But you can repeat this time again and again because you can't get enough. Valve has released an amazing sequel, which is almost impossible to find a fault in. The locations are larger and more diverse, the graphics are more technical, the storytelling is deeper. The core of the basics is still a cannon that creates two interconnected portals. However, the mechanics have become much more complex.

The Bottom Line

Portal 2 is a completely original project and an incredibly unique experience. Download Portal 2 to have a good time solving some mind-blowing puzzles.

Conclusion

Portal 2 is a successful sequel of the original. Amazing puzzle complexity and physics, together with a two-player cooperative game mode, equals the game that will capture you for a long time. The project's excellent storyline and humor break down on sometimes monotonous mechanics and lack of multiple solutions..
