Rules of Survival Review: Awesome Battle Royale Gameplay

Rules of Survival clearly resemble the PUBG or Fortnite scenario, with the Battle Royale game, where players get to the island and where they fight to the death. You can download Rules of Survival on Windows, iOS, and Android.

Graphics — 5/5

Graphics kick off this Rules of Survival review. This game isn’t the most visually exceptional shooter game that you might have played, but it does have lots of characters and employs different settings which add to the scenery. It is visually very similar to PUBG, and you may find yourself second-guessing whether you launched the right game. The overall design is vibrant and the maps expansive, although there are limited skins for characters.

Gameplay — 5/5

One great thing about RoS is the fact that there is much back-to-back action so you’ll never lack exciting moments. You can enter the game alone or with as many as four other players in co-op mode, with a maximum of 120 players allowed in each game. The game starts out with players dropping from an airplane onto a deserted island where they battle for survival through collecting weaponry and other resources. Players can play on two arenas, i.e., Ghillie Island which allows up to 120 players and Fearless Fjord, with a holding capacity of up to 300 players at a time.

You earn currency based on the number of kills that you make and the resources that you collect. Weapons are scattered all around the map as an incentive to move around. Another thing to note is that the maps continually grow smaller as you advance, which increases the chance of confrontation with other players.

Controls — 5/5

One great thing about RoS is how raw the action is, just like most survival games like it. You aren’t inundated by endless menus which take the fun out of the actual combat, which is what the game is mostly about. The controls are mostly fluid, though on occasion you might run into a glitch that makes them non-responsive. There are flashing prompts on the screen that occasionally guide you to your destination.

Replay Value — 4/5

The game offers simple gameplay and all the raw action that battle royale games are loved for. It is straightforward, and even beginners will pick up this game quickly. Although RoS does not offer tons of content in terms of unlockables, what it does have is enough to fuel the interest. Unlike the mobile version, the Steam version isn’t marred by lagging or unresponsive controls.

Conclusion

Hackers spoiled the early release version on PC, but NetEase has banned millions of players and bots who were ruining others’ progress and has taken steps to ensure that the game is fair to all players. The movement in the game is fluid and responsive, while the shooting is quite exceptional and will keep you coming back for more. The game’s theme isn’t new, but its 150 million players certainly find it unique.

Conclusion

While it may be infamous as a copycat of PUBG, RoS manages to stand on its own two feet. You can download Rules of Survival if you crave a fresh take on the now-familiar formula..
