Graphics 4/5
Team Fortress 2 game has been around for 13 years. Naturally, its graphics look a tad outdated. But they are still as funny and quirky as they used to be.
3D models bear a strong cartoonish influence. Playable characters have massive chins, hilariously serious faces and bizarre costumes that you can unlock. Maps are detailed pretty decently.
You will find plenty of decorations that convey a certain vibe: beach, urban area, a lonely sawmill in the woods, etc. But many of the objects aren’t intractable or destructible. And that clearly shows that Team Fortress 2 gameplay belongs to another era.
Gameplay 4.5/5
Team Fortress 2 full game revolves around two hostile teams. One is called Reliable Excavation & Demolition (RED). The opposing team is Builders League United (BLU). All in all, there are 9 heroes: Demoman, Sniper, Spy, Medic, Engineer, etc.
They are divided in thee classes — Offense, Defense and Support. Hero choice depends on what tactic you prefer. Defense heroes can soak up a barrage of bullets and swiss-cheese foes pretty well. Offense are swift and good at maneuvering. Support can back up the team.
Multiplayer modes include:
- Payload. Push a cart onto the enemy’s zone;
- Control Points. Capture as many CPs as possible;
- Attack/Defense. Shoot first, ask questions last;
- Capture the Flag. Don’t let the enemy get the banner;
- King of the Hill. Capture and protect the only CP in the center.
A collection of bizarre weapons adds an extra fun touch. How about a Soda Popper that shoots soda cans right in the face? Or a vintage-looking blaster proudly titled C.A.P.P.E.R. that shoots bullets because it can’t shoot lasers?
Controls 5/5
TF2 obeys the classic FPS keybindings. WASD for movement, LMB for shooting, etc. A few hotkeys can be helpful, though. For example, you can call a medic with E. G allows taunting enemy players. Q automatically switches to the last used weapon.
Replay Value 4/5
Team Fortress 2 game online can be captivating. It has a memetic character troupe, energetic battle tempo and a lovely sense of humor. At the same time, it feels antique to an extent. A few upgrades could revitalize its online, which isn’t big — TF2 holds position 59 among online shooters.
The Bottom Line
Download Team Fortress 2 to have less talk and more fight!
Conclusion
Team Fortress 2 is a blast from the past that is worth a check. You can customize a charismatic character, join a heated battle and savor trademark witticisms like ‘Since their discovery in 1895, hills have fascinated kings’. And if you played it 10 years ago, embrace nostalgia..
