The Snowboard Game Review: Winter Is Riding!

The Snowboard Game is a snowboarding simulator with realistic physics and immersive mountain landscapes. If you like sporting simulators based on speed, action, and alertness, download The Snowboard Game and enjoy!

Graphics 5/5

It’s great how the designers recreated those limitless snowy landscapes, and the details at some distance don’t get blurred (though this would be forgivable). The snowboard riders also look natural in motion, moving naturally, exposed to us due to third person view. The mountains featured in TSG are fictional, so they had to be created manually rather than digitized. One more reason for admiration.

Gameplay 5/5

It’s easy to guess that you play as a snowboard rider in the mountains, doing tricks on complicated landscapes with steep and surprising slopes. The most obvious mission is to reach the finish faster than the rivals (or faster than you did last time). But it’s all about doing as many tricks as you can. Jump up to stay in the air longer. Ride on logs, balusters, tubes. Use trampolines to fly.

There are a quest and achievement system, so if you wish, you can just ride, or pursue some of the aims given. Doing tricks pays!

Hangout online mode is made quite unusually: in fact, it’s a free exploration mode where you see your friends if they’re playing simultaneously, and you can physically interact (see and hear each other and even collide). But you’re still completing your own quests, with no direct competition.

Tour is an online competition that’s asynchronous, so each competitor can select the suitable time.

Controls 5/5

Like in most sporting games, the control part is complicated. Say, you equally often have to use WASD and arrow buttons, and they’re not interchangeable: WASD control your speed, and arrows regulate the tilt of your board. You’ll have to use more hotkeys for various tricks; the complete instruction is found within the game. A mouse is necessary too: it rotates the camera. You can play it with a gamepad (with both sticks, too), but it will require finer tuning to avoid possible bugs.

Replay Value 5/5

Like most sporting simulators with an open world, this game is highly replayable. Just sliding through these snowy slopes is the sort of meditation you’ll probably return to, once you’ve liked it. Besides that, the game offers a large variety of modes, including various online options. So the replay value of The Snowboard Game is rather high, and if you’re in it, it’s going to be a long ride.

Conclusion

The Snowboard Game review is here to praise this brilliantly made game. It lacks more content (five mountains are too few), but it can be fixed. What cannot be fixed is the complicated control system, regardless of the input you use. There’s nothing to do but get used. When you do, the game starts to shine.

Conclusion

Sport isn’t easy, but it’s rewarding, even a virtual one. Download The Snowboard Game to make sure and enjoy!.
