It’s always been a fathers’ problem to get in touch with a kid before he or she learns to speak. The game is just about that understanding a baby. Have you ever learned how inventive little kids could be in getting into trouble? We wish no one would. The game is just about how hard it can be for a clueless daddy to save the child from self-extinction any way one can imagine.

In 2019 we can download Who’s Your Daddy? remake, with better graphics and sound. So far we have the current edition.

Who’s Your Daddy? Review, or On Suicide Safety

Graphics — 4/5

Well, it’s obvious that the developers didn’t bother to overload the environment with insignificant details. The house you live in is as schematic as kids would write it (though a bit accurate, of course), but it doesn’t mean the drawing is bad.

As you see the game from the first person view, you need to interact with the environment, and you do. Most of what you see is interactive. Doors or drawers can be opened or closed. The objects you find inside or on them can be moved (though it takes some accuracy because the game emulates manual movements). All you can’t interact with is just ignored. On the other hand, it’s really 3D, with a large house and objects physics. So the design is straightforward, meant to highlight the physical nature.

Gameplay — 5/5

The basic idea of the game is preventing your baby from self-destruction. Kids can find very unusual ways to die (alas, we see it on TV news every day), and a father should be very cautious to stop your little kamikaze.

The game basically requires two players. One of the plays as a kid and search for any suitable tool of suicide. The other (as a daddy) explores the house and hides any potential suicidal weapon. It can be virtually anything: a bottle of bleach, an open toilet seat or window, pills, and so on. The game lasts for a certain time. If the kid manages to die, he wins. If he doesn’t, the daddy wins.

Father can also do some work that gives bonus abilities. Like, say, invisibility, viewing all the dangerous items at once, baby’s health stats.

You can play in two on a split display, where each player plays for father or baby. The baby’s mission is to find a way to die, and father’s — to prevent it. There is online playing as well, with full screen for any of players.

Controls — 5/5

The best about control system is its intuitiveness. WASD block is used to move your character, mouse movements control the camera, and actions are made with left click. By keeping the button pressed, you grab and drag objects. Simple as can be, this approach lets you concentrate on gameplay rather than controls mastering. We hope the developers keep this way in the remake (yet native gamepad support would be fine too).

Replay Value — 5/5

As this game is a mind stand-off, it’s highly replayable. You can never tell where the baby will find danger or where the daddy has been to remove all risks. This opposition can result in unexpected turns each game, that’s why it’s constant fun.

It grows even bigger with updates (if there ever will be one). New ways to die and to survive are provided by developers’ fantasy way too rarely, but human fantasy is inexhaustible.

Conclusion

Evil yet inventive game, for some it may seem a triumph of cynical cruelty and further, up to suicide propaganda. The developers warn you: if you find this content inappropriate, just don’t download Who’s Your Daddy? In the abstract, it’s an inventive game, full of minor quests, missions, and tricks. For those tired of endless arcades and shooters, it will be a real pleasure.

Conclusion

Though Who’s Your Daddy? may seem too cynical for some, it’s filled with humor and inventiveness, and we’ve never seen a game with so much fun about kid suicide..
