My Car Review — From Russia With Honk-Honk

My Car is a car-assembling simulator for PC. It offers you a unique experience of tweaking parts of two legendary Russian automobiles. Learn how to construct a car engine, attach it to the transmission and don't forget to add other components. Test your vehicle on a track afterwards. Download My Car and make your four-wheeled Russian beast roar!

Graphics — 3/5

The visuals in My Car game are mediocre at best. But at least they convey:

a)   A remarkable detail of even the tiniest car parts;

b)   The brutal atmosphere of a Russian workshop, with a huge poster with an American female model, apparently designed during Eisenhower's presidency (1950s).

Game's physics are pretty acceptable as your auto accelerates, slows downs or flies off a ramp quite realistically. There are still a few improvements the game needs. Namely, a few fps bugs getting fixed. And also improvement of the turning animation — wheel mechanics need a broader radius.

Gameplay — 4/5

As our My Car review has discovered, in the game you're challenged to fully assemble two Russian vehicles. The first metal beauty is Lada 8 Vosmerka —a comfortable hatchback, appearance of which literally tells you cheeke-breeke. Its counterpart is Lada 7 Semerka  — this is a car that Homer Simpson drives in the live-action couch gag (Season 17, Ep. 13).

Before you get to test how these kitties purr, you must invest some time and effort into assembling them from scratch. Internal combustion engine, air filter, battery, brakes, alternator — you'll need to figure out what they do and where they must be put. After you're done with the car internal parts, you'll also have to put headlights, bumper, hood and so on in their places.

The finished auto may be sprayed and extra beautified with a Police inscription on the doors, a Taxi sign etc. You get some freedom with the paint job too since almost every color in existence is available plus separate parts of the car can have a unique tone.

Once the job is complete and your chariot is ready for its first ride, you can take it to the testing ground. There will be asphalt, wet grass and ramps to see what your gas guzzler is capable of.

Controls — 3.5/5

Car assembling can be done with a mouse solo, and steering is classic WASD. However, the car feels a bit stiff on turns and even having a wheel controller won't fix the situation.

Replay Value — 3/5

Constructing and riding Russian cars is surely intriguing. But My Car full game feels more like a raw demo. After you assemble both Ladas and give them a drive test, there'll be nothing else to do: no new models, races, trophies or Adidas vinyl stickers.

Conclusion

My Car gameplay is promising, but severely limited. If you've been infatuated with the brutality of the post-Soviet atmosphere, namely vehicles, since the times of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.— you can give the game a try. But it's gameplay barely lasts two hours.

Conclusion

Download My Car if you dream of qualifying as part-time, Adidas-clad Russian auto mechanic..
