Monster Hunter: World Review — Where The Wyverns Roam

Monster Hunter: World is an RPG for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The game challenges you to hunt down, overpower and gain loot from various types of fantastic beasts. Graphics — 4/5

The game does a magnificent job on the monster models. If their early release prototypes were polygonal monstrosities, the current beasts are a visual epitome of brutalism and viciousness. The in-game world's details when separated look smudgy and poorly textured. But when tossed all together in the salad bowl — you get a majestic picture of the alternative universe where scary beings reign. (Until you come for their souls).

Gameplay — 5/5

In Monster Hunter: World gameplay your chief occupation will be making and fulfilling contracts, over and over. Every time there'll be a specific monster to ambush, liquidate and carve into pieces. In turn, these pieces will upgrade your ammunition. Bludgeon a Kulu-Ya-Ku or a Jagras to death and make sandals and stockings out of his parts. Extra % of armor is guaranteed!

Monsters vary in terms of difficulty. And taking down some of them, like Zorah Magdaros, will require careful planning. Luckily, the environment can be your ally: dirt slows a beast down, rocks make a good cover. And fireflies that dwell in the caves can be used as a flashbang to briefly blind and confuse your prey.

A number of the stones for sharpening your deadly tools has become unlimited. The open world isn't divided into separate areas anymore, so there'll be no extra loading screens. And tracking down your meaty foes has been simplified a bit.

Controls — 4/5

Monster Hunter: World game is originally a console title. Therefore, it's advised to have a gamepad — mouse + keyboard duo isn't the best choice for maneuvering your avatar. It feels like the PC mouse has been taught to imitate an analogue stick. Quite poorly though.

Replay Value — 5/5

Needless to say, looting and hustling for resources is never fun. And you'll have to do a lot of this noble work, otherwise top equipment, weapons and armor will stay permanently inaccessible. On the other hand devising strategies, spying on your bulky game and finally overpowering an angry meaty mountain — all these things feel ecstatic when put together.

Conclusion

Our Monster Hunter: World review strongly recommends this RPG to everyone, who fancies having a game worthy of long time dedication. It has smart monster genealogy, meticulously designed environment,  leeway for tactics and plenty of contracts to finish. Monster Hunter: World price is $50, but this hunting sim is worth every penny. And every minute spent on it.
